T1D Companion Cards: Connect Deck
The Connect Deck is designed with diabetes educators, peer facilitators, and healthcare professionals in mind. It’s a toolkit for sparking honest, reflective group conversations around life with type 1 diabetes.
What's in the box?
60 illustrated cards
20 thought-provoking prompts
3 ways to play
A Caring Conversations guide
A facilitators quick start booklet
Unlike the Reflect Deck, these 60 cards focus on visuals only, no text, just bold illustrations that invite interpretation. Paired with 20 prompt cards and a practical facilitation guide detailing 3 ways to play, the Connect Deck helps groups explore the unspoken, name what’s hard to say, and build connection.
Use the Connect Deck for:
An engaging and fun way to get friends and family talking about T1D
Community-building in peer-support sessions, meet-ups or youth programmes
Deepening empathy in clinical or diabetes education settings
Best for: Diabetes educators, T1D community champions, facilitators, coaches, group leaders, conferences and community events. One Connect Deck is ideal for groups of 3–6 people at a time.
Whether you have 15 minutes or 90, the Connect deck comes with three ways to play
Point & Prompt
Think Cards Against Humanity, but with more connection, less cringe. One person reads a prompt. Everyone points to the card that hits home, then (if they want to) shares why. No winners, no pressure just shared moments and experiences.
Collective Collage
Think Pinterest but for diabetes. Pick a pink prompt, like “put together ways loved ones can help.” or “create a first-aid kit for someone feeling burnt out by their diabetes.” Then work together to create a collage from the cards that responds to the prompt.
Diabetes Delegate
Think Charades meet TED talk: You’re stepping in last-minute to give your friend’s diabetes keynote. Flip your five-card “slide deck” and... wing it! Bonus points if people laugh and learn.
